6 holes have been carefully drilled in
the metal support 'funnel' behind coil
.086" - .093" (3/32")
Images show spring-loaded outer
sleeve retracted, to expose holes
Outer sleeve actually extends down
beyond coil as removed from socket;
use it to center hot coil over bowl
Slow draw is hot; faster is cooler.
Each heatup good for 10-15 secs.
Start with cooled coil each time
for better consistency, then
Hold lighter in for 8-10 seconds,
note coil color for a second or
2, until it is a good red-orange,
then keep it 1/4" above a thin
layer of material to be vaporized
Use trial and error; practice makes perfect!
Ronson's Tech Torch has a catalytic
hot air blower that provides a good
temperature range and is adjustable.
All it needs (to avoid trying to use it in
place of a lighter and inhaling unclean
exhaust along with vapor) is some
kind of heat exchanger screwed on
in place of the soldering tips
it comes with...
